Graeme Alford, DipCS&AOD, LLB, brings a profound depth of both professional expertise and lived experience to Reset Recovery. A lawyer by background who holds a Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol, Other Drugs & Mental Health), Graeme is a recovering alcoholic who has maintained sobriety for over 40 years. His journey is one of remarkable transformation; after alcohol addiction led to the loss of his career and three periods of incarceration, he made a pivotal decision in 1982 to rebuild his life from a prison cell. This resilience became the foundation of his bestselling book, Never Give Up, and his renowned Mental Toughness Program—a journey that saw him rise from prisoner to hosting Nelson Mandela in Australia, earning him the title of 'The Comeback King' by the ABC’s Australian Story.
Driven by a desire to evolve the recovery landscape, Graeme formalised his expertise in 2015. Through clinical placements and over 15 years of coaching individuals with substance abuse issues, he identified a critical gap in the 'one size fits all' Therapeutic Community and 12-Step models for addiction treatment. After a year of rigorous research into thousands of international facilities, Graeme leveraged his 25 years of experience in program design to develop a more adaptive, evidence-based care approach that incorporates dual-diagnosis care. This clinical innovation, supported by a multidisciplinary team and medical oversight, led to the founding of Reset My Future and remains the driving force behind the clinical excellence and bespoke care provided here at Reset Recovery.

A foundation of clinical safety from the moment you arrive is essential for effective addiction treatment. Recovery begins with a safe transition, guided by our multidisciplinary team. Our clinical program is overseen by experienced medical professionals who specialize in addiction medicine and provide evidence-based care. We conduct comprehensive medical assessments and offer supervised detox support for those requiring a managed withdrawal process. By ensuring physical stability through 24/7 medical oversight during the week, we create the necessary headspace for the psychological work ahead. Our team skillfully manages the complexities of medication and physical wellbeing, allowing you to focus entirely on your recovery journey, including dual-diagnosis care when needed.

We don't believe in a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to addiction treatment. Our therapeutic curriculum is built on gold-standard, evidence-based care modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These frameworks are integrated into both our 1:1 sessions and our group workshops, all under medical oversight. We focus on identifying the 'why' behind addictive behaviours, helping you develop high-level distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. This comprehensive approach is supported by our multidisciplinary team and can be immediately tested during your weekend integration.

At Reset Recovery, your care is managed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists who convene daily to discuss your progress. This approach ensures that every aspect of your health—physical, mental, and social—is comprehensively addressed. Our team includes:
Addiction Medicine Specialists: Providing medical oversight and detox management as part of our addiction treatment.
Accredited Counsellors: Delivering deep therapeutic interventions grounded in evidence-based care.
Specialist Recovery Coaches: Offering practical, lived-experience guidance tailored to your needs.
Family Therapists: Facilitating the healing of the home unit through dual-diagnosis care.

The quality of your recovery is defined by the quality of the people walking beside you. Every member of the Reset clinical staff holds dual qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Mental Health, enabling them to provide exceptional dual-diagnosis care. This expertise is vital, as we recognize that addiction and mental health challenges are often deeply intertwined. Our multidisciplinary team consists of highly certified professionals who are chosen for their grounded, empathetic approach, ensuring you feel respected as a partner in your own care—never just a patient. With a strong emphasis on evidence-based care and continuous medical oversight, we are committed to supporting you through your addiction treatment journey.

While our model is designed to feel like a sanctuary, we uphold the highest standards of professional care, particularly in our addiction treatment programs. We operate under strict Australian clinical safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for all clients, including those requiring dual-diagnosis care. Our multidisciplinary team adheres to rigorous privacy, ethics, and clinical governance, providing the safety of a professional clinic alongside the warmth of a community-focused recovery space, all backed by evidence-based care and comprehensive medical oversight.
