We collect information directly from you during your intake assessment, throughout your treatment, and via our website. With your consent, we may also collect information from:

  • Your General Practitioner (GP) or other medical specialists.
  • Family members or legal representatives.
  • Referral agencies or government departments (e.g., Department of Health).


3. Use and Disclosure of Information

We use your information primarily to provide high-quality residential rehabilitation and clinical care. Your information may be disclosed under the following circumstances:

  • Clinical Care: Sharing relevant data with our internal multidisciplinary team (nurses, counselors, doctors) to manage your recovery.
  • Referrals: Providing information to external healthcare providers if you require specialized treatment.
  • Legal Obligation: Where required by law, such as mandatory reporting or a subpoena.
  • Safety: If there is a serious threat to your life, health, or safety, or the safety of the public.


4. Communication with Family and Third Parties

We recognize the importance of family support in the recovery process. However, to maintain strict clinical confidentiality:

  • Consent-Based Disclosure: We will not confirm your presence at the clinic or discuss your progress with family members, partners, or friends unless you have provided explicit written consent.
  • Nominated Representatives: During intake, you may nominate specific individuals with whom we are permitted to share updates. You may revoke or amend this consent at any time.
  • Verification: If a third party calls the clinic, our staff will follow strict verification protocols. If consent is not on file, we will neither confirm nor deny your status as a resident to protect your privacy.


5. Data Security and Storage

  • Electronic Records: Stored on secure, encrypted servers with restricted access.
  • Physical Records: Kept in locked cabinets within secured areas of the clinic.
  • Retention: We hold health records for the period required by Victorian law (generally 7 years after the last encounter, or until the age of 25 for minors).
